Fra qualche decina di anni, chissà, la Mercedes EQC diventerà un’auto da collezione e in molti faranno a gara per mettere in garage la versione di lancio Edition 1886. La EQC infatti apre una nuova fase per la casa tedesca, perché questo crossover elettrico sarà la prima auto a batterie delle dieci che la casa tedesca intende lanciare entro la fine del 2022.

La serie speciale di lancio Edition 1886 insomma vuole sancire questo momento storico, e per farlo introduce una serie di novità all’estetica. A ricevere questa versione saranno solo gli automobilisti americani, perché la Edition 1886 sarà venduta a partire dal 2020 negli States.

A caratterizzare la EQC Edition 1886 pensano la vernice argento metallizzato, la mascherina in nero lucido ed i cerchi da 20” con disegno a 10 razze e finitura bicolore, oltre a dettagli come le targhette in nero lucido con il numero 1886 in blu.

All’interno sono presenti i sedili rivestiti in microfibra, la scritta “Special EQC Edition 1886” sui poggiatesta e dettagli nella plancia di colore argento. La dotazione di serie è arricchita infine dall’impianto stereo dello specialista Burmester e dal pacchetto Energizing, che controlla una serie di parametri (temperatura del clima, musica, illuminazione) per far rilassare o “ridestare” il guidatore nei viaggi.

La Mercedes EQC Edition 1886 arriverà negli Stati Uniti il prossimo anno, dopo l’anteprima di questi giorni al Salone di New York 2019. A livello tecnico e di motore non sono previste differenze rispetto alla EQC “normale”, un crossover lungo 4,76 metri rivale delle Audi e-tron e Jaguar I-Pace.

I due motori elettrici, da complessivi 402 CV, sono alimentati da batterie agli ioni di litio che “stoccano” 80 kWh di energia, a sufficienza per regalarle fino a 450 chilometri di autonomia e un’accelerazione 0-100 km/h in circa 5,0 secondi.

Exclusive appeal, high-quality looksCarefully coordinated elements on the exterior and interior are among the optional extras for the EQC Edition 1886. The black panel radiator grille with louvres and edging in high-gloss black ensure a particularly exclusive character on the exterior. The EQC Edition 1886 is available exclusively in metallic high-tech silver. Further individual features include the high-glossblack badge with blue "1886" lettering on the fenders and the 10-spoke 20-inchlight alloy wheels in high-gloss black with white decorative elements.

The exclusive appeal continues in the interior with the new seat designs withupholstery in MB-Tex / DINAMICA microfiber in Indigo Blue and Black.Special EQC Edition 1886 lettering is embroidered into the seat backrests andcenter console. This level of detail is also evident in the specific trim elementsin a silver matrix look as well as the floor mats with the "EQC" embroidery.

ENERGIZING Package ensures individual feel-good atmosphereThe EQC Edition 1886 also has outstanding driver assistance systems for thehighest level of safety and driving comfort. The Burmester® Surround SoundSystem provides remarkable sound and fully comes into its own in theextremely quiet interior of the EQC. The ENERGIZING Package is also onboard.

creating an optimal environment from the lighting mood and the fragrance andionization of the air to the seat ventilation to keep the user fresh and vitalized.The ENERGIZING COACH feature uses data from the vehicle and surroundingsto recommend one of the ENERGIZING programs that fits the situation and theindividual. For example, aspects such as the traffic situation, weather andlength of the journey are included in the assessment. In addition, data thatprovides information on the driver's current well-being can also be used. Thisis made possible by networking with available Garmin® wearables (smartwatches/fitness trackers). Further optional extras such as electric adjustabledriver and front passenger seats with memory function round out the Editionpackage.

Like every EQC, the EQC Edition 1886 has a water-cooled on-board charger(OBC) with an output of 7.4 kW and is therefore ready for charging withalternating current (AC) at home and at public charging stations. Charging at ahome wallbox (240v) is up to three times faster than at a domestic powersocket (110v). It is faster still with DC charging – which is standard for theEQC, with a suitable market-specific plug. Depending on the SoC (status ofcharge), the EQC can be charged with a maximum output of up to 110 kW at anappropriate charging station.Special remote and navigation services are also available for the EQC Edition 

1886, as is the digital charging service Mercedes me Charge, which givesaccess to a number of public charging stations.
